Upanishad – THE key to Wholeness

Posted on by Teo Siew Yong

I have been listening to the great truths of Ishavasya Upanishad by a living master, Paramahamsa Nithyananda (fondly known as Swamiji) since Janunary 2015. This morning I just had an epiphany after having been contemplating, internalising and debating about some of the subtler truths about Eesha, Pure Consciousness!

 What are Upanishads?

Upanishads, means sitting at the feet of master in Sanskrit, are the pristine sacred truths channelled through the ancient rishis and it remains completely authorless, meaning, nobody can claim the glory because it is Existence revealing itself to the world. It is the Source (Mahadeva), who vibrated the Cosmic Knowledge, Vedas, in the form of Dakshinamurthy – the Adi Guru (the first spiritual master). The rishis radiated it and read it out from the Cosmic Knowledge. That is the way the Upanishads were delivered to the Planet Earth. Mahadeva just sat in silence as Dakshinamurthy under the Banyan Tree and radiated it as vibration, the vibrant silence, a living silence. The rishis just spelled out the Cosmic Records, the Akashic Records in words and shared it with the world. This is the way Upanishads happened.

The first Upanishad mantra says:

ॐ पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदम् पूर्णात् पूर्णमुदच्यते |
पूर्णस्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते ||
|| ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ||
Om Poornamadhah Poornamidham Poornaath Poornam Udhachyathey |
Poornasya Poornamaadhaaya Poornamevaavasishyathey ||
|| Om Shanthi Shanthi Shanthih ||

Completion, from Completion even if you think Completion has moved out, the Completion remains Complete!”

Upanishads have the courage to declare ‘Not just your future or your present, even your past can be transformed!’ Nothing is complete till you start Living Advaitha. Swamiji defines “Living Advaitha” as realizing you are Whole, one with the Whole, you are not a broken or separated, divided part. It says that we were never broken, separated or divided, the Whole exists as Whole.

The main message to humanity from Upanishads is “not just in the future you will be Complete, even in the past you were complete.” As a living Yogi, I always carry this belief that I will be completely complete one day in the future, which is the understanding I got from Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, that is why I constantly work on evolving my consciousness through different techniques and tapas (austerity). But it is Upanishad that completely shook this understanding and gave me an experience of Living Advaita.

The Complete Completion happens when you realize that even in your past you were always Completely Complete, not just in the present or in the future. The depth of the Completion is complete in you when you understand that even in the past you were Complete.

This profound realisation created such a tremendous healing within me, experiencing my Presence of “ISNESS”.  Being established in pure consciousness beyond the ephemeral, now I know all my incompletions of the past are meaningless or irrelevant, I don’t need to associate myself with them, they don’t have a place in my inner space. Only Upanishads with a living master can give us the experience that even in the past we were Completely Complete! There was never ever any incompletion in me. That realization is Living Advaitha.

In addition, this realisation also empowers me to change my past. A normal logical mind may think – ‘How can the past be changed? It is already over!’ Nothing is over in the Cosmos as long as we remember, it means it still exists! Any memory of the past we still remember is present; it is present about the past. It is about the past, but it is present. The pain we have about the past, but it is present. That is why it is still hurting when we remember the incident. All our files are still pending until we wake up from this slumber and start living Advaitha.

Only Upanishads can give us this clarity experientially that we can complete the past in the present, the future in the present, and the present in the present. A Complete Completion blossoms which transforms all our future and present as well as our past. This is the moment all accounts get settled in the Cosmos. The space is such a great freedom.

The sacred gift of Upanishads is the greatest blessing any being can receive from a living master. It is the ONLY KEY to return to Wholeness. Don’t miss listening to Upanishad from a living master. Namaste. 😀
