Beauty and Grace

One friend of mine recently started a business on inner beauty, I was very curious about the concept of beauty in Vedic tradition. So, I decided to do some research to get a better perspective on this subject.

I remembered my Guru, HDH Bhagawan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam, a living incarnation (fondly known as Swamiji) once told us that Lord Sadāshiva explains about beauty in Agama (ancient scripture). Who is a beautiful person? Many places Lord Sadāshiva does not use the gender because we believe in 11 genders, He just says ‘beautiful being.’ There are three qualifications He gives.

First, the moment you see, that being is so stunning that your eyes should just pop up, that is automatically the eyes should dilate. Second, the grace should flow in every action, from the moment of waking up, to the moment of falling asleep, grace should permeate in every action in that being. Third, every bhāvanā (attitude) that person assumes or every aspiration he assumes whether he wears jewels or not, anything should fit and it should radiate beauty. These are the three qualifications He gives for a beautiful being.

Vedas empower women

Last Friday on 8th March, many people around the globe celebrated International Women’s Day. Look at the world around you, women are empowered by their prevailing presence in courts, corporate powerhouses, parliament, entrepreneurs, scientists, writers and social activists – they are everywhere! As a housewife, a mother – they are the strongest in raising a whole family. There is a big difference in the Western world of feminism which is about fight for equality, however, women in ancient India had enjoyed the equal status with men. They were educated and even trained in the art of warfare by choice. Tell you honestly, it is only when I become a living Hindu that I truly feel empowered as a woman. Before that I had suppressed this dimension of me being conditioned by the parents and society. It was only by the grace of my Guru, His Divine Holiness Bhagawan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam (fondly known as Swamiji) that I discovered the power of Divine Feminine Consciousness. When he awakened this dimension in me, tremendous healing happened in my inner space. I become the embodiment of Shakti, Devi Durga (Cosmic Mother). Last Friday, I facilitated an impromptu session for a group of almost 30 Chinese devotees where I brought understanding to this aspect of Vedic tradition, then I took them through a healing process by invoking the presence of Shakti – Divine Mother.

Responsible destruction is renewal

Today is the auspicious day of Shivaratri. ‘Shiva’ means causeless auspiciousness, ‘ratri’ means night. Shiva is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is also known as Mahadeva (Lord of all Lords – the ultimate Divine Cosmic Consciousness). The Cosmic Consciousness is reasonless, continuous auspiciousness; it is Nithya Mangalatva (eternal auspiciousness) without any reason, causelessly. Hence, Shiva is considered as the supreme being within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within Hinduism.
